How We Calculate This
This calculator converts egg quantities between sizes using weight. Each UK egg size has a standard average weight (in shell):
- Small: 48g
- Medium: 53g
- Large: 63g
- Very Large: 73g
The calculation
Total recipe weight = recipe egg weight × quantity. Divide by the available egg weight to get the number needed. The volume comparison assumes egg liquid is about 88% of shell weight.
