Cold Brew Coffee Calculator

Calculate the right amount of coffee and water for cold brew concentrate based on your preferred ratio and batch size.

Total water to use

How We Calculate This

Cold brew is made by steeping coarsely-ground coffee in cold or room-temperature water for 12-24 hours. The result is a concentrate that you dilute before drinking.

The Formula

  • Coffee (g) = Water (ml) / Ratio
  • Concentrate yield = Water used x 0.7 (grounds absorb ~30%)
  • Diluted servings = Concentrate x 2 / 250ml (diluted 1:1)

Common Ratios

  • 1:5 — Strong concentrate, best diluted before drinking
  • 1:6 — Medium concentrate, good balance
  • 1:8 — Light concentrate, drinkable straight or with a little ice
