How We Calculate This

Simple syrup is made by dissolving sugar in water. The ratio determines the sweetness and consistency.

Ratios

  • Standard (1:1): Equal parts sugar and water by weight. Yields ~1.6x the water volume.
  • Rich (2:1): Two parts sugar to one part water by weight. Yields ~2.2x the water volume.

Method

  • Combine sugar and water in a saucepan
  • Heat gently, stirring until sugar dissolves completely
  • Do not let it boil vigorously
  • Cool completely before bottling
  • Store in a clean, sealed container in the fridge
