How We Calculate This

This calculator uses a simple but effective formula to work out the true cost of each ingredient in a recipe.

The Formula

  • Ingredient cost = (Amount used / Packet size) x Packet price
  • Total recipe cost = Sum of all ingredient costs

Tips

  • Use the same unit for packet size and amount used (e.g. both in grams)
  • For items sold by count (eggs, lemons), use the count as the "size"
  • Enter up to 5 ingredients — leave unused rows blank
  • All prices are in pounds sterling
