Frangipane Calculator

Calculate almond, butter, sugar, and egg ratios for frangipane filling.

Round tart tin diameter

Depth of frangipane filling

How We Calculate This

This calculator estimates the volume of frangipane needed to fill your tart tin using the formula for a cylinder (pi x radius² x depth). It then converts this volume to weight using the approximate density of frangipane batter (~0.9g per cm³).

The total weight is divided according to the classic frangipane ratio: equal parts butter, caster sugar, and ground almonds, with 1 egg per 100g of almonds, and a small amount of flour for structure. This produces a moist, rich filling that pairs beautifully with fruit tarts.
